Re:References and Compliments!!

Dear Garang Kuot, Mayik Aher and Santion Bol,

Once again thank you for your nice articles - they are well-meaning and fascinating. However, I feel we all owe Aweil, the home and the people, a duty of care, and we can all be sued by the history, should we fail to deliver that duty. Having differences with as many people as you could, in Aweil does serve the purpose of our enemies, not ours, so it is good we now leave those differnces in our back, and  begin to demolish the wall, for the "Great Move" which is "Future of Aweil". A or B may calim to be the right persons to be better serving or served the interset of our people, but the reality lies with the kinds of everyone's actions that serve - no philosphy or trick in history, let those who beleive so, continue to harbuor this notions, and they will fail.

Garang Kuot,

Yes, I have done that job, but I can acknowledge the fact that, I had to provide some references, first for those who need them, as far as their education are concerned, and second for those who can doubt the authenicity of the information, I have provided in the history page of our motherland: There are various references, but below are few I could provide for the moment:

1- Oral history - As concerned young Aweilian, since when I was just 15 yrs old, I tend to ask my uncles and other elder persons, about how our history had evolved - so I heard the oral story such as that of "Wajatiar Battle" arround Alok from; Lual Akuey Lual (Lual-Maloj) the father of Mr Lawrence Lual Lual, who fought as young man in Waj-atiar War together with my father Wek Ateny, before even become the paramount Chief of Ajak in 1939. Of course I could have got this version from my own father, had it not been for the fact that, my father was executed by the Arab in June 7, 1966 when I had just turned only 2 years old; Wek Ateny Ayom (jnr) My father-half brother, was instrumental to my history vocabulary, alas, he was also killed by Mahrahilien forces in 1987 : Sultan Pio Tem Kuac Ngor, the paramount Chief of Doluit Kuac Ngor, currently residing in America, phone number +1 703 9380959 is another person, who can be contacted to confirm the oral part of our history.

2- Professor Holliot's book, the history of the Sudan from 1882-1947, fourth edition, published in 1950, Oxford printing press. This book had a good details of the Anglo-Egyptian rules (which begun in 01/01/1899 and ended in 01/01/1956) in Northern Bhar El-Gazal, and especially Aweil Area. The name Chak-Chak and his origin were all mentioned in this book.

3- Mohamed Omer Bashier, South Sudan background to the conflict, Khartoum printing press. This book, had covered our relationship with the Mahadyyia State in Sudan- 1881-1898.

4- in 1884, I had the advantage of working as Rate collector in Aweil Area Council, Aweil Town where inter alia, I had access to the government files, some dates back to 1930s and 1940s. This files were kept in a store. Because, the Council didn't have any photcopy facilities, and I could not removed any of the file for it may amount to theft, I had copied some information into my dairy, and especially the part covering the chaiftanship section - how it was formed and who were the key players. With this references avialable for any one who requires them, the information I have provided, does have grounds to stand, until the prove to the contrary emerge, not from anybody trying to coin it-up, but from a distingushed historian.

I beg to remain, higly confidence.

Ateny Wek Ateny,

London, England.

Dear Ateny Wek,

Thank you for this information, I won't be able to give my input on this incredible information now because I am busy, I will do so later.

But I just wanted to let you know that I have added the correction that you wanted to make in your article, so that people may not have to discuss two separate topics. That is some people may reply to the correction instead of the main topic so I thought it wise to correct it to aviod that possibility.

Dear Ateny Wek,

Thank you so much for providing these references. I was ridiculously busy in the past few days that I wasn't able to comment on your great article. Though none of us really doubted the information on Mading Aweil which you provided a few days a go, it is always an academic requirement to acknowledge the source of a given information for that not only helps the interested readers to seek more information on such sources but it also legitimized the information given. I will add these sources to the article on Mading Aweil so that readers may know where to refer to should they have any concern. Once again thank you for your tireless and selfless work, your effort is truly appreciated. Best wishes.

Kuot Kuot.

Dear all,

It is genuine and marvelous history however it won't change the mentality and colossal misconception of those who think that Mading Aweil is extremely incapable to make constructive vicissitudes. Aweil has been believed to be permanently deformed by those who have been playing their nice games for decades. We have been fooled for the first time and the same people are on clear verge of fooling us again.
