I AM CURIOUS IF YOU COULD ANSWER MY QUETION TODAY. IN 2004, I ATTENDED THE SPLM/SPLA WHICH CELEBRATED THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE EVENTS OF MAY 16, 1983.WHEN THE ASSEMBLY BEGAN, I WAS DISAPPOINTED NOT TO HEAR SOUTHERN SUDANESE SINGING OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM. DO WE HAVE ONE OR NOT? IT SEEMS TO ME, THAT SINCE SOUTHERN SUDAN IS INDEPENDENT NOW, HAS ITS OWN LEADER, FLAGE, AND HOPEFULLY WILL SOON HAVE ITS OWN CURRENCY, AN NATION ANTHEM SEEMS IN ORDER.
I ALSO REALZE THAT AT MOST OF THE EVENTS THAT I HAVE ATTENDED, FOR EXAMPLE WHEN DR. JOHN CAME TO SPEAK AT THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA, AND AT THE SPEECHES OF OTHER SOUTHERN GOVERNMENT REPRESNTATIVES WHO HAVE COME TOTHE UNITED STATES, AT THE TIME WHICH ONE WOULD NORMALLY EXPECT TO HEAR THE SOUTHERN SUDANESE NATIONAL ANTHEM, THERE WAS NONE TO BE HEARD. WE NEVER SING OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM. DO WE HAVE OUR OWN OR ARE WE GOING TO USE THE OLD SUDANESE NATIONAL ANTHEM?
IT IS MY DREAM TO HEAR MY COUNTRYMEN SINGING THE SOUTHERN SUDANESE NATIONAL ANTHEM THIS MAY, AND ALL MAYS TO FOLLOW. WE ARE HERE TO MAKE A NEW SUDAN, A BETTER PLACE FOR THE NEXT GENERATION.
welcome to mading aweil board, you really point out vital topics. we should have our own national anthem to represent us as sd or new sudan. it's about a month when comprehensive peace is sign, so spla/splm is start from ground. a part from national anthem, new sudan need a lot things such as identity eg passport, ID, and birth centificate since a lot people don't know their day of birth, it's really shame not to know your birthday. during celebration, we sing some song, which not national anthem, but that represent spla/splm in other way around.
incase of community, don't take chance but take action.
