I am truly behind the news but I beg your pardon to excuse my ignorance. I was wondering as to when the SPLM leader John Garang is going to be sworn in as vice-president of the Republic of Sudan. News had it that he was going to be sworn into the VP office on February 20th, but we are already in March and the news is not materializing, what is going? Poor souls like me badly need help on this issue. Thanks.
I have been wondering too. I thought I got the Feb. wrong and I was just gonna wait until the time they will do it. If anyone know what is going on, let us know. Peace out Achier Hi Garang, are u ever on IM? I have not sign on for a long time. I would like to sign on again though. I would like to chat with you again one of these days.. I was just wondering bye now

A good question man! I am speculating too dude, none of protocols inked on January 9th was implemented, because the mabior should have been khartuom by this time of month now. Let hang around and glimpse what will happen with vice president Mabior…….
Garang was interviewed last month on the National Public Radio (NPR); and he was asked when is he going to be sworn in as Sudan new VP and he said it would be sometime between June and July because that’s when the new constitution will be avail. He said that he can not be sworn in under current constitution because it's an Islamic constitution.
Thank for your information, a lot forks are curious waiting to see/hear garang's avowed for v. presidency to finalized macheko deal, which was sign on January 9th. But there no prompt way, he escape Islamic constitution unless engross himself in new constitution.
Mr.Garang will probably be sworn in later in the year on condition that the ground is favourable for him and the entire GOSS.Thanks to Bol Madut. Here is some more information. The catch phrase is underlined.
The leader of the former rebel group's political arm, John Garang, did not mention the fighting during a visit to Brussels Saturday. His spokesman said he could not comment as he had not been able to contact people on the ground in Sudan.
Garang, who will become vice president under the peace deal signed in Kenya two months ago, said he was sending about 70 representatives to open an office in Khartoum in preparation for their joining the government in July.
"What we are doing now will create the necessary momentum ... to assure that we are serious about implementing the agreement," he told Reuters.
Once in government, Garang said he hoped to help solve a separate conflict in the western region of Darfur, where rebels took up arms in 2003, accusing the government of neglecting the arid region and favoring Arab over non-Arab tribes.
"You cannot make peace in the south and make war in Darfur," Garang said. "It is untenable."
The 20-year southern civil war, which was complicated by issues of oil, ethnicity and ideology, claimed more than 2 million lives and forced more than 4 million from their homes.
The SPLA's humanitarian commissioner Elijah Malok said the recent fighting had displaced 250,000 people, though international aid officials said that figure appeared high.
He said 1.7 million internally displaced southerners had returned to the south and they had no access to food or water.
"There is looming disaster in southern Sudan," Kiir said.
Egeland, saying the next few weeks before the start of the rainy season in May were crucial, said the world was missing a historic opportunity to support peace.
"It is a historic mistake for donors to sit on the fence at the moment," he said, adding only 5 percent of the $500 million needed this year to rebuild the south had materialized.
"The fighters will have nothing to do but use their rifles in a criminal way to make a living," he said. (Additional reporting by Gilles Castonguay in Brussels)

You still really knows how to cracks people up, man. Hey, the years we used to wear boots to the football field are long gone; and we are now in a position where one can afford to buy as many as football shoes one would like, unlike back in the days.
As for the name Bona, well you know as the time progress, people progress and discovered many things in life. It’s been 9 yrs since I’ve got rid of Bona. As a matter of fact, I even for that I once used to go by this name.
Well, I think we should get reconnect again. You can email me at bolmbol@msn.com and we will talk more. Take care. Good bye for now.
