As the person who always feels the problem we have been wrestling with stem from disorganization and incompetency in the leadersship. I don't know whether I am right or not but I have developed a strong conviction that Aweil could become a great nation if we focus on building a powerful and competent leadership Aweil community. I have a feeling that Aweil citizens can be strongly connected if the leadership in Aweil adapts better leadership strategies to deal effectively with the problems in our State, Madingaweil. My understanding can be wrong and for that reason I am willing to accept any constructive criticism or correction.
I have a few questions for all of you on the board.
First, what can we do to create and build a powerful capacity in Aweil leadership?
Second, who should be elected or selected basd upon the principle of "majority rule" to guide and protect Aweil during this difficult time in the history of South Sudan? Third, how can we create a better relation between leaders and ordinary citizens in weil to achieve a strong leadership and sound citizenships in our city? I mean who would be the leader to meet the needs of this tough time? I have thought about it but I find it a little challenging to keep it to myself without sharing with you on the board.
Thank for bring up this amazing topic. Aweil have been suffering under leaders who care less about others and focus on his own being. But I will not blame communities because those leaders were not elected by communities; they were hand pick by the movement {spla}. I have no idea how aweil will assemble strong community since those leaders used theirs citizens to acquire ranks. examples malong and his counterpart abuk abuk{madut madut} placed heavy taxes on aweil community and used them for their own good or feed their fate boy so that they will get promotion, that why those fate boys care more about malong/ abuk abuk rather then others commanders in aweil. Look at case of Dau tourjong, he is only commander I know don’t have comfortable home either in Kenya or Uganda. He surprises aweil community when he used taxes to build up aweil by buying some vehicle and uniforms for naked soldiers. For that triumph, Dau was transfer by the fate boys fail to fill their stomach during his time.
aweil should discourage the ideas of choosing leader of his/her physical or personal behavior such as quiet, tall, strong, from well know family, fat and so on rather then their past experiences and competency.
In my opinion, any aweil citizens of any sex who overtake publics vote will be leader
I am not an Aweilian and you may excuse me for poking my nose in the affairs of great Aweil community.The issue you have raised is subtly important as it arouses my interest with a will to at least say one or two words if only to show my gratitude to the people of Aweil in general.
I won't write more than ten sentences but I would like to thank you for raising such a thought provoking issue.Charity begins at home.As an Aweilian you have the right to be very much concerned about the horrifying state the people of Awiel have been living in since the war broke out in 1983.Aweil, like most of its sister counties in South Sudan's northern frontier, has been subjected to multiple tragedies like the Murahliin invasion, isolation from relief srevices, diseases and all kinds of hazards related to war.Now that we can see some light at the end of the tunnel with peace signed, it is time to tie belts and work with zeal and zest to improve the human quality of life in your state.It is the Aweilians themselves to prove to others that they can survive without external intervention by mobilising their local resources and create a firm community leadership by which others will be able to say that this community is self-led and therefore can treasure national leadership.
Personally, as an individual who has lived, dined and played with Aweil boys since my early boyhood, the great hospitality of Aweil community and its renown ability to preserve itself in the face of both man-made and natural calamities are some of the numerous noble elements contributing to Aweil's great fame besides the huge contribution in terms of human sacrifice in the liberatiom process.
It is my firm belief that Aweil will finally bring forth a head of state sooner or later in the South or United Sudan.The night is long but the day will finally come for Aweil to have its rightful share of the national cake.

Something really important to add is that I would love everyone to focus on how to improve or build a strong leadership capacity at this "tough time." The issue is not blaming whoever was corrupted or brutal to locals but we have to think critically about how we can make the situation better for leaders and Aweil citizens. Blaming is not a credible solution but it might ignite more conflageration in our beloved city but we don't want that to happen at this time.
Tell us how we can shape it without necessarily blaming "them" nor thinking of replacing "them." How can you make them the better leaders if you are there with them is the question to ask. Make things much better for our people is the principal concern without necessarily going to the past mess or corruption. Seeking the solution is the challenging thing in our time and is truely paramount to our success.
Dear all, focusing on problem-solving approach doesn't require too much blame or denigration. I believe in some respects most of Aweil leaders have contributed.

Sometime it's very stiff to answer question "B" when you skip question "A". I truly agree with your tremendous ideas, but I put blame across so that aweil should not replicate the same blunder in the future. When hyena enters your house there no you impede it eating your goat unless you kill it.
Therefore, sorry I have no further thoughts of how aweil community will improve or assemble strong leadership at this moment. I might add my idea later as topic continues.
Again let me repeat myself as far as the topic is concerned, I believe all of us have been subjected to bad situations due to some major failures and confusions in the leadership at every level. These situations, however, didn't come to existence because of natural inducements but due to our contribution in Aweil: Enormous incompetencies and deficiencies in the leadership are the cause and this what my concern is all about.
The principal aim of posting this topic is to generate some ideas that would help improve the situations back home. How can we correct the situation is what I believe can liberate us from what Garang Kuot Kuot called "the tradition or culture of sycophancy/dependent thinking." A lot of things ought to be corrected and that require our commitment or dedication to that task. I believe, by this time, we have become influential voices in Aweil though we are not holding political ranks there. Therefore, let's focus on improving the situation there so that our vulnerable people can make their lives better and be able to be on their own feet.
Awach Anei, I love your analysis. It is indeed true you can't find solution when you haven't identified the problem. I am not saying you are wrong but my question is , do we have ability to improve the leadership so that such things like placing heavy taxes on people who are very poor can cease immediately? Are we able to make Aweil leaders believe that their responsibilities are not economic exploitation of the locals but to improve their economic, security, and social status in our city? Do we have ability to bring trust, honesty, confidence, respect of diversity, and accountability in our city?

My overall concern is, can we make the situation much better as opposed to the past?
