Aweil Community Divided into Two,Not a surprise that any person born from Aweil do come from a certain geographical location (such as Aweil west, north, south, east and central); Wut like Ajuongdit, Korok, Akanyjok, Gumjuer, Ajuet just to name a few, there are also villages, clans and clans name. It is not also surprise, that in Aweil, we have a linguistic grouping of Dinka such Malual, Abeim, Paliet and Palioupiny. All this grouping and naming define Aweil community.The surprise thing is, currently where people in the South Sudan needs unity in all its regions including Aweil. Aweil community in Western Australia still using a very old grouping and naming which was used to be imposed on us by well educated Arab researchers and other researchers supported by Arab government in Khartoum to see people, tribes and clans in south Sudan more divided. That gives the ruling Arab in Khartoum a chance to advance their policy of marginalization of the South Sudan. Disunity of naming and grouping people into many categories as Abeim, Paliet, Polioupiny and Malual was a well planned policy of ruling Arab elite since it does not let the southerners achieve anything in Sudan politically and economically. This is a time we should take those classifications of naming and grouping positively and make sense of them. If we take them as things that actual identify our destiny in separation way and negative manner; we stand a chance of jeopardizing the unity of community.Aweil community in Western Australia divided itself on 15th of august 2007 and association named Abeim People Association in Western Australia formed. The groups which remained stick together still carrying the name of Aweil community in Western Australia are Paliet, Palioupiny and Malual. Reasons for separation of AbeimThe reasons given for separation of Abeim from Aweil, in two meetings held with Abeim; the first meeting with Abeim office on 13th of January and general assembly meeting of Aweil community on 14th of February. Aweil community asked what are the reasons that lead to formation of Abeim? Abeim people claimed that they separated because of followings:
The current office of Aweil was not elected by majority; so we dont recognized it, because it is illegal.
Abeim is where we come from; it has been there since we were born, so we have right to form it as an association.
This is not Sudan, it is first world country, so we have right to form association so long as there is an understanding in one another and then raise money to help ourselves here and people back home.
We prefer Abeim than Aweil because those who are currently in the office usually claim and think that they are more educated and know much than anybody.
Aweil community can not be lead by persons who have not married.
Those who are currently in the office do bad things in community; they have bad records; so they can not lead a community.
Those who are in the current office where against the previous office, they have not cooperate with us when we were in the office, they separated and form youth; so we do not want to participate with them, now that they are leading community.
Some claimed that there were a lot of rumor mongering when Abeim started, that people talked against them; the current Aweil community office called a hall owner to conceal their booking for meeting and that is what anger them and form Abeim association than registered it.
All those reasons could be true for them; anybody is entitled to his/her look of things and opinion as well. However the current office doesnt support separation of Abeim as a solution to those reasons mentioned above. There are many ways of solving those reasons mentioned above and remained together as a community.For example; the office can be change if members are not contended with it, in Aweil community constitution members have a right to collect their signatures concerning any event that is not seemed to be at their interest. The signatures or complain can be presented to office. The office can call general assembly meeting to settle the issue. Another way is also by calling vote of no confidence.The office also doesnt support separation of Abeim because of our number. Aweil community in Western Australia number is approximately 80 people. These are those of 18 years and above. This is not large number that can be divided into Abeim, Malual, Paliet and Palioupiny. Aweil community in Western Australia would like to see Abeim people association dissolved friendly and those three groups mentioned early; Malual, Paliet, Palioupiny come together with Abeim to form Aweil community Association. If not, the office got the condition to impose to those who think that they are going to have a dual membership in Abeim people association and Aweil community association.The office doesnt want dual membership especially to those who call themselves Abeim people association members. Nobody who calls him or herself Abeim people association member would be admitted as Aweil community association member. This as per general meeting of 14th of February 2008 ruling by members who currently call themselves Aweil community association members. It also involves a legal issue. Association members have a right to determine the membership of those with misconduct behaviors and those who officially pledged their disloyalty to association. I urge you, the Abiem people has right to form their own Association or community as well as apart from mather Aweil community activities, in ever where else, despite won impact the mainstream of Aweil communities in sudan, USA, UK and Australia. Although they're still a members of Aweil.In other hand creating Association or any others activties is a sort of development. Also the controversail dosen't has future as well as creating disunity among you the much better learnig understanding each others.

I love your contribution of discussing this issues not just efecting Western Australia but general effect to all Australia especially NSW where we do have two Aweil community and Abiem. I personally believe that I am belong to both Aweil and Abiem. I love to contribute to both associatin if I have ability to do so. But since I am Aweil is my province or state if I make Abiem association in a way that I am gone strength Aweil as my Ambrella that is finen but I want to create Abiem as because to destroy Aweil that is great mistake which happen in Aweil community in NSW. People created Abiem because they want to destory Aweil Association. not because they want to become just Abiem. I resure you that there are many evidence shows that Abiem has been created to destory Aweil heritage and its organsition in NSW.
I argue all Aweil people in Dispora Abiem people do not have any probrom to divide Aweil for political interest. there are people who want to serve Aweil and Abiem with just reason because they are Aweil as well as there are people who want to serve Abiem as because to destory Aweil Association.
Awei Association is best of all and Abiem is where you belong. I recoginse we should think twice that we should join Abiem in away that we strengthining AweilCommunity and not to destory Aweil people. more important Aweil is Amprella and Abiem is under an Amprella of Aweil, where should you be?
