First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to greet you wherever you are. I hope most of you (regardless of massive damages caused by the long devastating war in term of social, economic, and psychological destruction) have at least for now finally felt the importance of freedom and relief from those overwhelming insurmountable situations created by the war. I would also like to express my sincere heartfelt to those who are still undergoing difficult circumstances caused by the past tragic devastating war and I wish you a blessing of Almighty God. More importantly, I wish that Almighty Gop would given courage and optimism to the orphans of war, kipnapped kids to slavery, widow of wars, widowers of war, amputtees of war, and the traumatized of war alike. I also hope that the victims of war will get an immediate humantarian assistance from wealthiest individuals or organizations since there are no security problems anymore. We all know that there is a serious need to get hope back to the war affected masses but I hope you they will be assisted by those who have seen their unprecedented inhumane suffering caused by both natural and anthropogenic disasters.
I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the unprecedented sacrifices that were committed by our heros and heriones, who fought unpaid mission for the sake to bring and create a better future and durable freedom to successive generations in South Sudan. Their honest sacrifices that were committed in hostile regions within Sudan and foreign countries, for instance, will be remembered forever. These young men who died both from guns's shots, starvation while traveling in the forests, diseases that claimed most of their of lives while going to their training centers, and other deaths from hostile communities along the way to Bongu or Bilfam or Diimo, will always be considered as the foundation of our freedom and liberation. This is important part that most of the Southerners should not forget. We have lost wonderfully patriotic young men and women who were fully committed during the war in term of economic and military commitments to keep our struggle strong. Though our women didn't physcically show up in the battlefields alongside the men, they still can be remembered as the heriones because they were the economic support of the fighting troops. Their mission to cultivate crops and prepare a variety of foods was the vital contribution to our mission. I am also glad that the sacrifices of the loved ones who perished in the course of the war have attained the successful end. I mean that their sacrifices have achieved what they were committed for in the course of 22-year-war. More importantly and really far more important, I would also like to appreciate the superb success of our legitimate body, Spla/m. This organization will be remembered for this unprecedented achievement. We all know that it was not easy from its inception upto the last minute on 01/09/05. Spla/m had suffered many difficult challenges and temptations but it remained committed to its valid mission of liberating Southerners. Historically, this fact will remain forever though there were some serious concerns with respect to its policies and directions.
On the other hand, what is our responsibility those who have survived these difficulties either in South Sudan or outside South Sudan? What can we do to honor the mission of our deceased brothers and sisters who did their part a lot successfully? As the matter of fact, war is the a true betrayal of human dignity. War destroyed humanity in so many discreditable ways. War can make friends enemies, war can possibly make brothers antagonistic to one another, war can spoil and tear the neighborhood part, war can bring massive economic destruction, war can bring leadership problems, war can cause tribale or clan animosities or hatred, war can create disuntiy, mistrust, and instability, war can make people less caring and loving for their families and vulnerable ones, war also brings opportunity to others to rob the weak ones of their freedom/liberty and their surivival properities, war can make you forget your friends, neighbors, and relatives. Given thiese obvious destructive consequences of war, I believe, indisputably, that the war has plunged us into these situations either we are aware of or not.
This is the situation. What can we do to alleviate and possibly eliminate them? It is a challenge that needs not to be underestimated. We have to think about what we can do to bring these situations back to normal or to bring them to the state of peace and unity and stability. I hope the commmunities that comprise the entire South are pondering over this critical situation or decision which needs their undivided atttention to materialize.
The tribes or clans or all communities in South Sudan need peace and unity as a prerequiste among themselves for them to be able to prepare adequately for future challenges such as a decision for self-determination and/ or autonomy. Peace must prevail in their hearts and minds for them to be able to combat each and every challenge in a more successful way. Unity and peace in South can take them (Southerners) to higher avenue in term of creating a strong nation. Through unity and peace Southerners would be able to move around in the region with no fear of threat in any part of the country. Through unity and peace Southerners would be able to work or find job in any part of the country with no fear of nepotism or tribal discrimination. Through unity and peace I hope Southerners would be able to improve and strengthen their security in the entire region, because the attention would be focused on an external threat and not internal threat. It is fundamentally true that all Southerners are tired of ethic or tribal threats or discriminations in the region. Given this reality of the situation, I still maintain that the best way to do it is to be honest with each other or with every tribe or clan or community to achieve what would be beneficial to us as well as future generations. All Southerners, in their different capacities, must strive very hard to challenge themselves this time on to bring never-dying unity and peace to the whole region. It is a time to show a caring and loving tendency for one another so that we can help the most socially and economically devastated or disadvantaged masses in South.
Mind you, it is ultimately the responsibility of those who are far-sighted, politically experienced individuals, well taught individuals, and well-informed individuals to envision better ways of making South more successful and progressive. For instance, concerned people like senior fellow BonaMalual Madut and other people should volunteer to help Southerners through this difficult phase of political, social, and economic development. The most war-inflicted masses across the region require an immediate help to get out of this anxiety and desperation. They need to see that what they had lost their loved ones for has substance and productive. More importantly, South Sudan needs to do more work to get security of everyone achieved and protected. Security in term of military protection, social improvement, economic improvement for everyone, and correct political representation for everyone if possible. These are primarily the fundamental ways South Sudan can move head more progressively and prosperously. peace, unity, and security (and I want everybody to realize that fact) would be ultimately if the vast majority believes that at least the government is for them, if the vast majority has something to eat, if the vast majority feels that the opportunities being social or economical or political are reachable or accessible to everyone. All these things sound and stupid but they are the principal ways of giving people a better heart and mind and ability to make the best decisions for themselves and for their children, friends, and neighbors.
Another important thing is the leadership in South Sudan. I know we have capable leaders who are also determined to solve individual differences, tribal differences, and regional differences. And I believe that the responsibility of our leadership is to take a top priority to bring peace and unity and tranquillity to the entire region. I hope that our leaders in South will do more work during this period to bring unity and symbiotic relation to South tribes. Unity and peace are badly needed to prevail in our region so that we can move forward in development and creation of productive economic environment. southerners must also give the support to the leadership for it to be able to move ahead with no difficulties or impediments from individuals or tribes. There must be a collaboration, motivation, and ecouragement from everyone and/or for everyone to achieve peace and unity in our devastated region.
Finally, peace and untiy are extremely important but they will be achieved through hard and honest work in collaboration with our leadership.
"Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country."
Thank you so much for all you have said. This is what i always expect from you individually and as a friend. Your message is more unifying, acknowledging and appreciating all those that have committed themselves to the cause of freedom and independence. One can not say thank you enough for this amazing message. They deserve our appreciation and we also deserve most of their appreciations. By them i am referring to those martyrs, heroes and heroines that have made it possible to have this current peace.
You have correctly identified the most urgent needs of our people and those include but not limited to unity, acknowledgement, appreciation and development. Our devastated country will once again breathe a new life into our horrified people. It will once again give them a sense of citizenship, ownership and belonging. It will be a country in which businesses can operate and investments are made. It will be a country known for its great people and natural resources but not known for death by starvation, war and diseases. We will be proud to be citizens which we were literally not since independence. We can walk with our heads up in Khartoum and they will acknowledge that some known people are passing by. We can talk to our African brothers from other nations with pride and dignity. We will be reborn again in our own nation and our children will be born free though we were not born as free citizens proud of their nation.
Right now what we need to do is to empower ourselves, our people and our nation. The time has called up on us as the youth that the duty for which we were commissioned got to be put to use. If we are caught unprepared, who should be blamed? To take the words of the SPLM leader: "Sudan will not be the same again" with us coming and with change simultaneously coming with us. All we have to do is unite and know our responsibilities and be ready to respond to our nation's call. The first phase of the war is over, but the real war is not over yet. We must have human resources; we must have capital and must have built our capacity before we could vote to go it alone which definitely will be the end game unless some miracles happen.
Finally once again, i can not commend you enough for the job well done and with out doubt, that is what is expected of you gentleman.
Thanks
Awolich

"The most effective way to restrict democracy is to transfer decision-making from the public arena to unaccountable institutions: kings and princes, priestly castes, military juntas, party dictatorships, or modern corporations.."______Noam Chomsky
The struggle was a legitimate mission and it will remain legitimate for centuries. There is nothing wrong to give your life for the sake of salvaging the futures of your next generations. We have learnt past historical achievements of great people, for instance, Malimu Julius Nyerere of Tanzania, Nelson Mandela of South Africa, Martin Luther King, Jr the freedom fighter of black people in America , and many more. All these achievements tell us that struggle and sacrifices are the only means you can possibly get what you want from the oppressor. Therefore, what our young men did under the command of this body called Spla/m, was the superb job given the fact that the struggle was meant to fight against the oppressive regime of Arab. These young men did unforgettable work in history of Southerners. And therefore the next successive generations will remember their unprecedented military achievement. Other people might say that they shouldn't get credit because after all the peace was achieved through a negotiation. However, that is not the case at all. The fact they didn't give up in the period of 22-year was the sign that they were committed to get it using anything at their disposal.
I hope we will stay in touch and let's hope the implementation process would also move forward progressively and constructively. It is a tremendous for Southerners in their various communities to do anything they can do to make sure they contribute to strength of entire South Sudan. It is ultimately the responsibility of all leaderships in different communities in South Sudan to work collaboratively with South Sudan leadership to achieve a durable peace and unshakable security to safeguard our futures against the shackles of Arab deceptive games.
Thanks from compliment. All of us are unity and peace lovers but what we don't like are deceptive games and pretexts played by other groups in South Sudan. We must be honest to go to higher avenue.
