South Sudanese traders that dealt in clothes hangs and shoes businesses expresses deep discontent to the police agent who forceful chased them away in Juba town on Wednesday. Speaking to the Citizen Newspaper at the scenario in Juba town where police massively destroyed their properties the Steering Committee leaders of the hangers Bol Ajing Ayii and Deng Deng Chien said the police treated them harshly if they are not citizens. This market was mainly dominated by South Sudanese small scale business men and women that came from Khartoum and established it in 2009 of which the Payam administrators asked us to form a committee that can address our issues and coordinate authority with traders, said Bol Ajing Ayii The contention started early in 2009 with Juba Payam administration which demanded all clothes and shoes hangers to evacuated the place on pretext that the authority will look alternative place for them, he lamented. According to Ayii they have reached consensus between the Payam administrations in 2009 and agreed for them to pay one hundred pound monthly which last up to 2010. We have 373 tables and each table paid one hundred monthly which goes to Juba Payam and 15 pound a month which goes to the streets cleaners, said Ayii. At the eve of independence of South Sudan the Mayor came and addressed us nicely saying that the place should be evacuated for the purpose to be cleaned and after independence we will resume activities till the government allocates a place for us, said Ayii. He said that the police aftermath of independence disturbs them by chasing them away regularly and confiscated their properties. They came and threaten us thorough and insulting us that we are criminals and we suppose to go to our respective states where we came from, leaving us discontented about the act of our police, said Ayii. South Sudan is our country and Juba is the national capital city which can accommodate us all, pressed that they reflected the things that Khartoum did to them similarly happen in Juba. They foreign were there everywhere dealing with the same work we do but the police never target them, we needs immediate intervention from the state government and central government added Deng Deng. We were in Khartoum but there were places that reserves for such activities of which the citizens were favor by the government more than foreign said Deng. Polices never understand us, and the authority especially the Mayor as well as Juba Payam administrators dont want to meets us to settle the issue peacefully, he asserted. We dont want to make massive demonstration because that will make bad image to our new nation but we want only place to carry out our business said Deng. He appeals to the governments to intervene in order for peace and understand between them and police to be achieved.
