South Sudan New Budget to be table on Friday, says Minister

The Minister of Information and Broadcasting Barnabas Marial Benjamin accompanies by the Deputy Minister Atem Yak Atem said that the new budget that address the nation needs after attained independence will be presented on Friday to the Council of Ministers by the Minister of Finance economic and Planning Kosti Manibe.

 

The Minister said this meanwhile addressing the reopening of the weekly media forum that initiated by him last year when he appointed as the Minister of Information and Broadcasting in order to bring in contracts the media and public institutions to share information.

 

Benjamin briefly introduced the new Deputy Minister Atem Yak Atem and applauded his appointment by the President cited that he is professional Veteran Journalist who contributed in various field in the liberation era.

 

The new government reflects national and broad base government formed on the principles of democracy that the new nation has founded and it will work close to its people by rendering basics services to people, said the Minister.

 

The government will improve the situation as we move together to sensitize our masses about the peace which can enhance development and services delivery, the Minister asserted.

 

The Minister disclosed that the budget for the new nation will soon be table by the Minister of Finance for deliberation, while the fiscal year changed from January to the 1st of July and 30th of June annually.

 

He further said that the ambassadorial accreditation process is on well and soon South Sudan will dispatch its ambassadors to various counties across the world.

 

He reiterated hundred days that pledges by President Kiir of services delivery during jointly opening of National Parliament and the Council of states which initially started when cabinet had sworn in.

 

He added that the government has firmly determine to ensure that the services delivery are render by eradicating corruption provide Health services, Education, security maintenance base on promotion of rule and law.

 

The nation has taken seriously the issues of corruption and transparency and the public as well as media has absolute role to hold us accountable if we never deliver services, the Minister pointed.

 

The Minister calls upon some radio stations that took licenses and dont operate to operating soon otherwise they will withdraw licenses and give them to people that will deliver services to people.

He encourage media to pay visits to all ministries to inform people about their program and also urges international community to assists South Sudan in combating nature calamities such hunger and flood that affected nation.

 

The Deputy Minister Atem Yak Atem asked all South Sudanese to united serving the nation in different ways as they united during the war for the liberation in different ways.

 

He appreciated the veterans Journalist the Chief Editor of Khartoum Monitor which renamed as Juba Monitor after independence of South Sudan, Alfred Taban in the Forum.

 

 

NBGs Minister of Information Admits hunger signs

The Minister of Information and Communication of Northern-Bahr el Ghazal state Bona Makuac Mawien in an interview with the Citizen Newspaper on Monday admitted that there is sign of hunger in the state which contributed by several factors.

 

The state government never denies of hunger signs because we have generally affected from prices inflation in the markets which contributed to the crisis of commodities shortages since the North Sudan routes which mainly supplied us with goods has barricaded by the North regime, said Mawien.

 

South Sudanese merchants shift their trades from Sudan to sisterly nations of East Africa which also too far away from Northern Bahr El Ghazal as well as inadequate hard currencies exacerbates the situation, he added.

 

The Minister further pointed that the inadequate rains in the state has prevented more cultivations which has emerged to some hunger signs but not in to extent that people died of it.

 

There were no people dies of hunger but indeed the governments of state and the central government should make proper plans for next year hunger because they people didnt cultivated much due to drought, said Mawien.

 

He further noted the worse inundation that rain dog and cat in that state which results to displacement of civilians which needs immediate humanitarian assistance.

 

According to the Minister he said that the flood happened due to poor drainage management system implicated by road construction that was done by Ayat Construction Company last year, meanwhile pointed that the state Minister of Physical Planning Kuot Kuot and other expertise are now laying design for drainage system.

 

We hope that central government will help us to addresses this issue of flood by installing proper drainage system since the state laid between lowland and highland, said the Minister.

 

The Minister urges the central government to act on the hunger mitigation measures to prevent acute hungry as the notably prepared for it.
